Children's Ministry
The Bible tells us that children are a reward--a heritage from the Lord. The care and well-being of your children is of our highest concern. Our desire is to protect, take care of, love, and teach your children.
Our children's church is divided into appropriate grade levels so that the Word of God can be taught specifically geared to each groups' understanding. We have a nursery/toddler room for infants and children not yet old enough to go into a classroom. The nursery is set up with closed-circuit television so moms can stay with their baby if needed. Classes range from preschool all the way up to 6th grade. Preschool through 3rd grade begin with a time of their own children's worship. We lead them in fun, animated songs that sing of the nature of Jesus. Our 4th - 6th graders are encouraged to sit in with the adults during worship. We end worship about the same time as the adults, allowing those 4th - 6th graders who worshiped in the sanctuary to join their proper class. Our desire is to teach the children the Bible from a young age so that it is real and personal for them. The Bible says, "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." Proverbs 22:6
In the children's church wing, there is a check-in area for parents to sign in their children. At check-in, a name tag for each child is printed along with a sercuirty tag that has a barcode and a 4 letter/digit combination for the parents to keep with them. If a parent is needed during service, we will simply put the 4 letter/digit combination on the screen to notify that parent that they are need. When picking up the children at the end of service, parents must show the printed security tag to those dismissing the children, the tag will then be scanned and the child dismissed. We do this as a security measure. The safety of your children is of utmost importance. We also have Security protecting our church during all services, roaming the halls, always watching over your children.
We have many rules and guidelines for our teachers to ensure your child's safety. Anyone desiring to be a teacher or helper must fill out an application. Our application asks many questions of the applicant, informs us of their background, and provides a list of references. All our teachers have been seasoned by coming to Calvary for many years, they are known well by the Children’s Church Overseers, and are of a good reputation. Teachers are given a curriculum they must follow according to the Word of God.
